In my Legend4ry Items I've reinvented the magic item for my games. I like items that do stuff perpetually, none of that Daily or Encounter power based magic items. To me that is boring and it doesn't seem magical. Have a Ring of Invisibility, for example, that only allows you to go invisible once per day doesn't feel like an epic item of legend and lore, now does it?
This is where my love of risk versus reward comes in. Great power at a price. Sure you can be invisible, but at the cost of your sanity. Is it worth it for your character?
Thor in mythology is known for his strength-giving belt! |
Enter: varying belts of strength for a Heroic Tier party. Now, it should be noted that I primarily only design for this tier because I believe it is the most balanced. That said, I feel that these items could be ported into a Paragon Tier game with minimal tweaking.
The first belt is slightly imperfect. Sure it grants you a bonus to your strength but at a cost to your intellect. Check it out:
The next belt still boosts your strength, but is of a more powerful enchantment so its cost to your intellect is lesser than the Imperfect Belt of Strength.
And finally, a step up even from the Minor Belt of Strength in terms of enchantment, the Major Belt of Strength still gives you that boost to strength but at no cost to your intelligence.

My Dyson's Delve 4e conversion is coming along marvelously, and I should have it done in a week or so. In addition to that, keep an eye out for a Flaming Sword concept I've been tossing around in my head for awhile now. If anyone has suggestions for articles or monsters to update to 4e, I'd love to hear them!
Until next time,
